I recently spent a day on board De Mercuur to go wreck fishing. I caught a lot of fish, which I could clean on board and turned into delicious battered fish later on that evening. A perfect day for fishing enthusiasts!
In the spring and autumn in particular, the wrecks are home to large populations of cod, bib and whiting looking for shelter. Because of the high catch rate, wrecks are an ideal place to cast your rod.
We go wreck fishing on De Mercuur, a 40-metre long, 8-metre wide seaworthy vessel. Thanks to its size, it is a stable, safe ship for wreck fishing. On top of that, the ship meets stringent safety requirements, which allows us to ensure that our trip will end in the port, rather than the bottom of the North Sea. De Mercuur boasts a spacious fishing deck and large fishing tables, on which you can immediately clean your catch. To recuperate after an intensive session of sport fishing, you can head to our large, modern, pleasant canteen. To go wreck fishing, you need a good, sea fishing rod. If you do not have your own, you can rent a good, seaworthy rod from us, including fishing lead and a paternoster, for just € 15.
